While walking through the halls of the Philadelphia Charter School on 16th and Lombard, I was surprised to see Phil in another room also helping to paint the Market mural. He was mixing paints as i stuck my head into the room. He is currently working three sites, the 16th and Lombard site as well as the Norris Street Site and the one he started with Miriam Singer in the E3 community center. He continued mixing paints as we spoke, checking and rechecking the color with the picture in his hand.
How has this experience been so far? Pretty good. Its' really well rounded working at three very different sites in terms of mediums, and designs.
What is the most interesting hing that's happened so far? Working with the Norris street mural is interesting I've never worked with glass before.
Favorite form of Public Transportation? The train.
What is the influence your project is having on the community? At the Norris Street site, people are interested in what we're doing. Since we're on the street working instead of in a studio they can come up to us, ask us questions and get involved in what we're doing. They can see the progress.
What is your favorite Philadelphia Landmark? My favorite Philadelphia Landmark would be the Eastern State Penitentiary.
What is the best place to eat at? Joe's Market near the Norris Street site makes some great sandwiches.
What is your favorite part of the mural that you've worked on? I've been working a lot on one of the rivers at the Norris street site.
